On my mind these days...

Hmmm...

At times in life.. you want change, a change that will change your monotonous life style...
it might be a new job.. or a new environment.. or meeting new people...or visiting a new country or may be you even wanna jus get settled down..

Your eyes searches for something or somebody you can rely on, feel secure about and feel carefree again just like a child...a feeling you get in your 20's i suppose... you want a lot of things and very quickly, but dunno how to go about it.. but the most you want is a change of some kind..

You no longer feel the same about those small Lil things that had made you smile once... they get boring... same ppl, same place, same old job and blah blah blah.. i know am sounding like a total snob... but right now i just cant help feeling like one:)!

I am 24 and i have done pretty well till now.I have a job , a home, a family that loves me and good friends, but still i keep searching for something... May be its human nature to keep looking out for something new and different. As they say 'you don't realise what you have until you lose it'!

I have a lot of things on my mind.. a job change.. may be going on site... a BIG holiday.. my family... higher studies??.. my huge credit card bills :).. marriage??

At the end of the day we all need change!
And guess what as i am sitting here and writing this , I see some change at last ...
its raining outside the window on a winter morning !!! :)

Home Away from Home...

Training Experience At Infy Campus Mysore(Put in a nutshell)...

For the first time I packed my bags to leave home for good. And for the first time I could also sense my mom's insecure feelings about sending me off, and deep down inside I was scared too! But it was time I stepped out of my nest. So I bid adieu and left home.

Dad dropped me off to the campus where my training was suppose to commence. The campus was huge and beautiful. It was a residential campus, I went to the reception collected my room keys and dumped my luggage in the room(lovely it was). I dint have enough time to have a good look at the room since I was running late for the induction program. I left with another gal whom I had met at the entrance; we both were together the rest of the day(and the rest of the journey too, one of my very best friend now) exploring the campus.

We had classes from 9AM to 5PM on weekdays and they were very particular about the dress code, timings and discipline out there. Gals had to wear western formals or Indian ethnic wear. And for a gal like me who has always lived on a pair of jeans, tee, sneaker and a backpack it was pretty tough in the beginning.Although the nice part of it was I got to shop for new clothes:)!

Lemme describe the campus a Lil bit:

The campus was just amazing,it was fun time after 6 (at least for me it was).
My room : Had AC with remote,TV with cable,Beautiful furniture,Lovely bathroom,24hrs hot water,Iron box,Electric kettle,Mosquito coils,Fans, etc etc.You just had to get up, take bath, leave for work.By the time you are back the room is clean and sparkling, and even the bed is done for you!!That was about the room.
We had 3 food courts, the food was average,we had cycles to move around the beautiful campus full of greenery. The training rooms, seminar halls were nice.
Now let me tell you about the most important thing,

THE EMPLOYEE CARE CENTER(ECC): This building had Basket ball court, Big swimming pool, Snooker & Pool area, Gym, Aerobics, Yoga, Squash court, Supermarket, Laundromat , Badminton courts, Tennis courts, BOWLING arena,Beauty parlour,Book store and what not!

Everything was just perfect out there, it was our own small world. Only thing that I was missing was some known faces, wished my friends were there, then much more fun it would have been. I dint miss home much, actually away from home I felt like a free bird that got to spread its wings at last!Hmmm I must say I could manage pretty well on my own.

As time passed by I made some really good friends and we were a gang of almost 20 people. Having fun, Freaking out, Partying every weekend, Playing basket ball till 2 AM in the night, Chatting at our so called ‘Adda's’ till late in the night, Pizza parties in our rooms, Those cycle rides, Gym and Salsa classes, Rolling and laughing like mad people on the cricket ground, Those tensions about clearing exams, Hanging out at gazebo, Burning the mid night oil and studying at the nth moment, Flicking project modules, The thick lassi and delicious parathas we would eat at the famous 'Jai matha dhaba’ just outside the campus , Those impulsive Mangalore and Manipal trips, Bunking classes, Getting caught for dozing in the middle of the class and what else i have NOT done ;). I was just my crazy self having so much fun and being so carefree, not having to worry about reporting to mum and dad at the end of the day.

Farewell Day at Gazebo(GEC)

I still couldn't believe I had started earning('Getting my first salary', has to be one of the happiest moments in my life !). The only tension I had was clearing my exams, most of the modules I had somehow managed to clear with ease and good grades surprisingly! Except for my stream compre (it was like the final paper), for which i had to slog a Lil bit.

I had become quiet a spoilt kid and a spent thrift too (Ended up borrowing money from dad even though i was earning myself!). But since I was away from home, dad and mum were all the more affectionate(come what may) and I would get treated like a ‘princess’ each time i visited them :D.

Since I had managed to clear all my exams, I was thrown out of the campus eventually :( and posted to Bangalore. It was quiet an emotional moment to part with friends who always stuck by ME 24/7. Miss u all,but the most I miss is my room (Room No: 173) , it was MY SPACE!

Hope you enjoyed reading this as much as I enjoyed penning it down!

Engg 1 SEM Exp

Asha,Deeps,Ritu,ME n Firu[My gang at the end of the course]

Had written this piece few yrs back, after finishing my college and was missing everybody.. just happen to find it on my sys, hope u enjoy reading!

INTRO:
Hi everybody I Nandini would like to tell some of my memorable moments of engineering life. Ah… ,from where do I start? OK from the day I got my CET results. I was not sure whether to join eng/med, but somewhere in my heart I wanted to become a s/w engineer and not a doc, I was not sure if I would get a seat in a decent engineering college, basically I was so insecure about everything. But the day I got a seat in BMSCE I was more than happy. A few days later I went and had a look at the college I really liked the campus and found the people around cool( at least better than my previous college which was boring).

1 SEM:
Then the first day of my engineering life ,I was really excited & scared(becoz of ragging!!) and what not. I entered the college gate, the college was buzzing with lot of people moving here & there trying to find their classrooms, friends & trying to escape from the watchful eyes of seniors. Then I was supposed to have a Lecture in some classroom block in some room no 2000002*** or something like that! I somehow found the classroom and saw a room full of unknown faces and was really happy to find somebody I knew, Deepti Natarajan who was my friend’s friend.

The whole day(actually a month) went in introducing to each other(name, age, college,%,CET ranking, which city, area, country, u r mom, dad, siblings,dog..cat & other bullshit questions!!!),it was like as if u r going through some interview process daily,I was soo bugged and bored initially and was trying to make some friends, in the process I met Rashmi Shetty(I think on the first day itself),I must say this is one girl I have seen in my life who talks non-stop even to a stranger, actually I began to doubt if I knew her earlier or if she had mistaken me for someone else. All the girls in the class wore only salwars (initially) scared of getting raged, except for me the brave one and some girls who followed me. I use to see big posters on the walls of the college stating that Ragging is not allowed (almost the whole sem we never use to go anywhere near the canteen which was supposed to be the “ragging adda”).

I wanted to get ragged & eventually got ragged by some stupid foolish seniors who did not even know how to rag and wasted my precious one hour which otherwise I would have spent sleeping peacefully in my cozy bed.

Then one day I met Ritu K Jain who was a cute little intelligent girl & we eventually became friends. I knew some other girls like Swetha Agarwal(short, plump & studious), Firdous Arshiya (quiet, cute & introvert) , Bandana (seemed to be quiet friendly),Asha Elizabeth Cherian(funny, scary & a weird character) and many more. (NOTE: these are my initial opinions which eventually changed to a certain extent but not completely).

Among boys I hardly knew anyone, since I had done my schooling in a girls school I use to hardly interact with boys and used to consider them as enemies of girls. My attitude had changed to a certain extent abt this concept but I was still not comfortable interacting with guys. Some of the names I can recall are Vaishak, Anshu, Abhishek Nair, Kunal saxena(cute),pinto, hmm… & few more. Anshu & gang use to make hell a lot of noise & I somehow did not like the attitude of their group, they were one big showoff gang.

I had chemistry cycle in 1 sem, we would have some boring lectures, some stupid subject called ccp. We also had graphic classes which was different from other subjects and gave me the feeling that I am doing engineering. I 'd Love carrying the “mini drafter & roll pack” for college as it was giving me the feel of doing engineering. I hardly would study anything & somehow I had lost the seriousness about exams and ended up getting really less in my 1 semester. END OF 1 SEM.(chapter closed).

(2 sem: will try to write abt it , in case I get time ;)!!!)
